For the 2024-25 School Year, Bowie's Standard Dress Uniform will consist of:
Polo:
- Grade 6 — Purple
- Grade 7 — Light Blue
- Grade 8 — Gray
Bottoms:
- Navy blue/black Chino style pants
ALL ITEMS WILL BE AVAILABLE THROUGH OUR ECISD VENDOR ONLINE.
General Provisions
- Any attire or accessory that is distracting or disturbing will not be permitted on school property. This includes clothing that is too short, too revealing, too loose, baggy, sagging, low-cut, see-through, spaghetti-strapped, backless, or Crocs.
- Garments with visible product logos are not allowed.
Pants / Shorts / Skirts
- Dress pants or Chino-style pants, shorts, or skirts are required. Garments made from denim, or those including cargo pockets or drawstrings are not allowed.
- Only solid colors may be worn in accordance with the above table.
- Pants, shorts, and skirts must be worn at the waist and must not reveal underclothing. Shorts and skirts must be mid-thigh in length or longer.
- Pants must be appropriately-sized and may not be rolled to form cuffs or tucked into shoes or socks.
- Leggings, jeggings, and yoga pants are not allowed.
Shirts / Tops
- Shirts may be short or long-sleeved, but must have a collar (such as a Polo or Oxford style shirt).
- Only solid colors may be worn in accordance with the above table.
- Campus “spirit” shirts (including those without collars) may be allowed on certain days at the discretion of the campus principal. For Bowie, current year's spirit shirt may be worn on Fridays. Standard attire pants are still required.
- Undershirts (short- or long-sleeved) that are either solid white or a solid, approved campus or grade-level color may be worn underneath a standard attire shirt.
Sweaters / Sweatshirts / Outerwear
- Approved standard attire shirts must be worn under any item of outerwear.
- Sweatshirts with hoods (“hoodies”) may only be worn with permission of the campus principal.
- Students may be required to store outerwear (such as coats and jackets) in a designated location while inside the school building.
Belts
- Belts are optional so long as pants, shorts, and skirts are worn at the waist.
Backpacks
- All student backpacks must be clear plastic or mesh. All backpacks must be free from enhancements or writing that advertise, glorify, or support offensive, lewd, vulgar, obscene or profane language, images or gestures, gangs, illegal activities, tobacco, sex, alcohol, illegal drugs, or violence.
Shoes
- Students will be required to wear shoes at all times — taps, metal plates, or cleats on shoes will not be permitted; prohibited footwear includes slippers or footwear not intended for outdoor wear or shoes equipped with roller blades/wheels. Flipflops are acceptable. Crocs are not acceptable.
Hats
- No caps, beanies, hats or any other head covering shall be worn on campus. Bandanas are not allowed on campus.
Student IDs
- Students must wear IDs with a Bowie Middle School lanyard. Their lanyard must be worn any time a student is on campus. Student IDs are a part of standard attire. Student IDs are the property of Bowie Middle School. No stickers, no writing, and no defacing of IDs is permitted.
